Young Entrepreneurs Programme

We coach young entrepreneurs through the practical stages of profitable, ethical and sustainable venture creation

How This Works

Designed for bilingual academic institutions, and tailored to your organisation, we offer teaching materials, coaching methodologies and idea validation techniques, licensed via an annually-renewable B2B supplier contract.

Learning Areas

Learning areas include how to identify business opportunities, how to segment and prioritise customers, how to develop solution prototypes and how to test out ideas on your target market. All within the safe and controlled environment of your own campus.

Methodology

We have designed this innovative programme based upon our two decades of experience coaching graduates and professionals in multinationals and government agencies. We prioritize practice over theory, employing dialogue-based learning and gamified quizzes instead of traditional monologue instruction.

Components

The main components of this programme include Course Delivery, On-Campus Startup Launch, a Lessons Learned Workshop, a Startup Competition and our Student Entrepreneurship Awards. Participants who finish the course are recognised with a Certificate in Entrepreneurship, but only one team can win the 'Top Student Startup' award.

FAQ

The Details

We offer the following learning areas which show how business theory links to business in practice:

  • Opportunity Identification: Pinpointing problems and opportunities for potential customers.
  • Customer Segmentation & Prioritisation: Analysing which identified issues are most critical for specific customer groups.
  • Solution Development: Designing a viable product or service to resolve the problem or opportunity.
  • Market Testing: Creating a proof of concept to validate the solution within the target market segment.
  • Sales & Pricing Strategy: Determining the optimal pricing to maximize profitability while remaining competitive.
  • Intellectual Property: Protecting and licensing innovations through patents, trademarks, designs and copyright.
  • Team Building & Relationships: Developing effective teams and cultivating strong customer relationships.
  • Sustainability, Ethics and Reputation: Equally prioritizing corporate financial viability with environmental sustainability and human well-being to promote ethical behaviour.

The course is divided into 12 modules, centred on the learning areas listed above. Each module is delivered in 1 hour and 30 minutes, and mixes theory, gamified quizzes and practical exercises that reinforce learning.

The course normally spans 12 weeks, with 1 module delivered every week, but other configurations are also available, based on your specific needs.

Each term is dedicated to a specific cohort, according to the following schedule:

  • Term 1: October / November / December → Cohort 1
  • Term 2: January / February / March → Cohort 2

Offering two student cohorts per academic year enables greater flexibility in scheduling for course participation.

The cohort size is between 6 and 12 students. Cohorts exceeding 12 students require prior written approval from the Supplier and may incur additional fees to cover extra instructor time and materials.

Each cohort is organized into 2 or 3 Startup Teams to foster a competitive environment that sharpens business strategy and execution.

During the first and second terms, students will launch their startup ideas on-campus, allowing for a safe and controlled environment where Startup Teams can offer products and services to fellow students in exchange for remuneration.

Crucially, each Startup Team manages its own marketing efforts and keeps the resulting profits.

We guide students towards ideas which can be implemented on-campus, to avoid issues regarding online fraud or digital privacy concerns for minors.

Examples include:

  • leasing a vending machine on-campus to provide sun glasses or umbrellas
  • providing consultancy services in football, chess or fashion
  • selling healthy snacks sourced locally from sustainable vendors

Formal business incorporation is bypassed here, as all commercial activity is strictly peer-to-peer and campus-based.

At the end of each term, we provide workshops to coach Startup Teams on how to present financial results, customer feedback and lessons learned during Startup Launch.

Participants will also develop public speaking proficiency to prepare them for the upcoming Startup Competition, and to train them in answering questions from the judging panel.

The Startup Competition is the culmination of the course, and requires each Startup Team to present key business metrics and lessons learned during the Startup Launch to a panel of judges.

The judges will vote on the merits of each team’s presentation, resulting in the following awards:

  • Top Student Startup: Awarded to the team that secures the most votes from the judges, recognizing excellence in product innovation and financial performance.
  • Top Student Entrepreneur: Recognises the student who has best demonstrated the values of your institution through exceptional talent, conduct and attitude.
  • Certificate in Entrepreneurship: A certificate will be awarded to all team members completing the course for inclusion on CVs and sharing on social media.
